Deep red, borderline burgundy blooms, fades to deep pink on the outer edges of petals with the throat intensifying in yellow/orange hues as the blooms age. Gina is a compact cultivar, meaning it branches frequently even when it is small, giving it a very full appearance that is both excellent for those who wish to keep it potted and for those who want to keep it as a small focal tree in their landscape. Gina begins blooming as early as April in central Florida.
We've seen Gina appear lighter pink (mid-winter), more orange-y (summer), to solid burgundy (when blooms first open and in early spring) during different seasons on the same mother tree. Keeping quality is excellent. Petals are firm and overlap, giving the classic Hawaiian vibe. Sometimes petals will come to a point (pagoda tips) and other times the petals are more rounded.
This versatile cultivar is non-the-less breathtaking and also happens to be one of the few red plumerias that is easy for novices to root from cuttings.
Scent Profile: Sweet and delicate (Subtle sweet & fruity fragrance). Fruity scent is more pronounced in favorable weather.
